Historical Tasmanian beer brands relaunched by Breheny Brothers Breweries

Based on the authentic Breheny Brothers recipe book and now available in Tasmania again after 100 years are these easy drinking beers

These historical mainstream beers were originally brewed at Tasmanian Co op Brewery in Elizabeth st Hobart, which is still standing today

The Co-Operative Breweries of

Tasmania Ltd was established in Hobart in 1927 with Thomas Breheny as General Manager and Head Brewer.

He was previously head brewer of Tooth & Co in Sydney after being a brewer at Breheny Brothers Breweries in Sale and Warrenheip in Victoria.

Thomas Breheny was born near Stanley Tasmania in 1865 and his nephew, Michael John Breheny, also worked as a brewer at the Co-Operative Breweries of Tasmania.

Breheny Brothers Breweries have also relaunched historical beer brands from Tasmanian Co-Operative Brewery Co. in Launceston.

This brewery in Launceston was established in 1908.

Michael John Breheny worked as a brewer at this brewery (also called the Union Brewery). The brewery closed in 1931 however the building still stands today

Michael John Breheny was born in Stanley Tasmania in 1889 and was the nephew of Thomas Breheny.
